John McCahan, PGA

John has been a member of the PGA of America for over twenty years. He began his golf career in the Valley of the Sun working at such prestigious clubs as Desert Highlands and Pinnacle Peak Country Club. He left the Valley to become the General Manager of Elephant Rocks Golf Course in northern Arizona, where he resided for nearly twenty years. He and his wife returned to the Valley in 2010 to begin his career at Westbrook Village. He brings with his many years of experience a strong knowledge of operations for public and private golf facilities.

John’s Golf Philosophy: My golf swing philosophy is “keep it simple.” With proper set up and alignment, you will allow your big muscles to work consistently for power and accuracy.

Mark Spolarich, PGA

Mark is a PGA life member with almost 30 years of teaching experience.  He is a self-directed, service-conscious professional whose teaching style motivates players of all ages to improve their skills, while communicating his love for the game and competitive spirit.  Mark believes that every golfer has the ability to improve, and uses his expertise to help each individual learn how to identify the right path to achieve a personal best in playing ability and satisfaction to enjoy the game.

Brandon Evans II, PGA

Brandon is a PGA Professional from Northern Arizona. He has been competing in golf for over 20 years, including various mini-tours such as the regional Gateway tour. An alumni from Arizona State University, Brandon believes in keeping your swing natural with the way you and your body wants to move. There is no right or wrong way to play, there are only better ways!

Kris Desmarais, PGA Apprentice

Kris is a Level 1 PGA Apprentice, originally from Manchester, New Hampshire. He has over two and a half years experience as a Golf Professional working at various courses including Anchorage Golf Course in Alaska, Wentworth By The Sea Country Club in New Hampshire, and Union Hills Country Club just across the street. Kris has coached students of all playing levels and looks forward to helping you reach your playing goals!


Cary Kohatsu

Cary has played golf professionally for ten years on the Futures Tour, Asian Tour, as well as many other mini tours. She has been teaching golf for the past 15 years and comes to us from the Arizona Traditions and Great Eagle Golf Clubs. She is an Alumna of Grand Canyon University where she played basketball on scholarship. She is married, has two children, and lives in Peoria. Cary is excited about her new opportunity here and is looking forward to meeting all the members of WBVGC.

All lessons are $40 for 30 minutes of instruction.
